What is E-Friends?

E-friends Eigomura was launched in 2009 to improve international communication in Kamiamakusa city, Kumamoto ken, Kyushu, Japan.

E-friends Eigomura motto is “Let's have fun” we aim to introduce the citizens of Kamiamakusa old and young to the English language through activities, international talks and events.

We use our motto “Let's have fun” to break away from the confined teachings of the class room and make our classes a relaxed environment so people can think free without the pressure of thinking English. E-friends number one goal is all about communication!

Halloween party 2011

Hi Everyone,

On the 5th of November E-friends held our annual Halloween party. Halloween is traditionally celebrated on the 31st of October.

Even though the weather wasn’t the best, the rain stopped for a short while and the children turned up as expected.  Some of the children even came dressed in costume which was great.  This year’s party was similar to last years with a few new activities.

The children enjoyed making jack-O-lanterns just like last year. Once we had finished making our jack-O-lanterns, we all went on a Halloween walk taking our jack-O-lanterns with us to scare anyone we met.  The Halloween walk was a new addition this year, and it will be something that we will repeat again next year… with a few scary twists of course.

On Finishing the Halloween walk we moved onto flashcard monster hunt.  The children did very well at finding many of the clues in the short time they were given.  They were able to remember many of the flashcards that were pre-taught, and managed to match many of the words to the pictures successfully.

The next games to play were eyeball bounce and my favourite Bobbing for apples.  This year we made bobbing for apples easier for the children by pushing toothpicks into the apples so that they could grab them.  This made the game a lot more enjoyable and the final scores showed it.

We’re already looking forward to next years Halloween party.  We have few spooky ideas that we want to try out.

Please check out the photos here.

Tim.
